Food is one of the area’s great pleasures; there are numerous local Gastronomic festivals for your taste-buds’ delight. There is even one where you can taste herbs and natural foods, in Saludecio. The eating customs arise from the fusion of 2 different traditions: the sea - thanks to the fishermen who for centuries have brought to shore tasty fish from the Adriatic Sea; and the country, which is based on the produce of a rich and fertile soil.
The cuisine also stems from the meeting and mixing of the Romagna traditions with the local traditions of the neighbouring regions, such as the Marche Region and Montefeltro.
These simple and tasty dishes are accompanied by local wines with registered designations of origin; red Sangiovese, white Trebbiano, Albana, Cagnina and Cerbio.
Local specialities:
Homemade pasta, like tagliatelle, cappelletti, tortelli, ravioli, strozzapreti, passatelli (a typical country soup). Grilled meat and fish, the famous rustida and brodetto, the special fish soup typical of the Adriatic coast. Salami and cured hams, vegetables, eaten with piada, a kind of thin round flat bread, served hot.
