July 2006 saw the completion of a major 12 million refurbishment of this two hundred year old grade II listed building. Although retaining many of the original architectural details, all 195 of the hotel's bedrooms, many with views of Edinburgh Castle or the Firth of Forth, have been transformed and given a contemporary new look. This includes The Kings Hall, a magnificent new events room seating up to 300 people for dinner or 240 guests for a Dinner Dance.
Seven additional state-of-the-art rooms hold between 16 and 80 people for private dining. The The George Hotel also created a stunning new restaurant and bar concept, Tempus, which boasts its own direct access from George Street.
