Area information
Landgoed Overste Hof is situated in the nature reserve Strijthagen, which is the ideal place for a beautiful walk or bike ride through the Limburger landscape. This is a protected sanctuary that forms a part of the municipal park Gravenrode. There are hiking routes available at the reception.
Landgoed Overste Hof has private bicycles available for rent at a fee of EUR 6.50 a day. Of course our reception also offers the necessary information brochures, hike and bicycle routes and tips.
Because of out unique location, there are numerous possibilities in the direct surroundings to relax in peace an quiet.
In the direct neighbourhood (at walking distance) you will find Snowworld, Europe's longest indoor ski run with chair lift, and the 25 ha garden complex Mondo Verde, with theme gardens, buildings and period rooms from around the whole world.
In the vicinity you can visit the South-Limburger steam train company (departure froom NS station Kerkrade) within 15 minutes by car. This original steam train will take you on a trip along the well-known Miljoenenlijn, which leads to Valkenburg a/d Geul within a few hours. During the trip you will traverse the hills of Limburg and will be able to enjoy the splendid vistas.
You will also find the Industrion (contemporary industrial and mining museum) and the zoo Gaiapark Kerkrade close to the hotel.
Children will certainly not want to miss a visit to Kinderstad Heerlen. This immense hall, that covers more than 9200 m², houses fantastic indoor attractions that ensure a fun visit at anytime, regardless of the weather.
At walking distance sports fans will find two riding schools, sports centre Strijthagen and a professional climbing wall.

From Eindhoven/Weert:
- Follow the A2 in the direction of Maastricht and join the A76 in the direction of Heerlen/Aken at the Kerensheide junction.
- Exit the motorway at the Ten Esschen junction and follow the urban motorway N281 in the direction of Voerendaal/Heerlen.
- Continue the road up to the Kerkrade-West exit, turn into this exit and be absolutely sure not to take the Landgraaf exit.
- Turn right at the end of this exit and take the left lane.
- Continue to follow this road and turn right on the roundabout past the fourth set of traffic lights.
- Take the first road to the left (cul-de-sac) and you will find our hotel.
From Liège (Luik)/ Maastricht A2 (E25):
- Cross the border at Eijsden and take the A79 in the direction of Valkenburg/Heerlen at the Kruisdonk junction.
- Continue in the direction of Heerlen-Noord/Heerlen-Zuid at the Kunderberg junction.
- Turn right at the traffic lights at the end of the motorway onto the urban motorway N281 in the direction of Kerkrade/Aken.
- Continue to follow this road op to the exit Kerkrade-West, be absolutely sure not to take the Landgraaf exit, and follow the directions above.
From Köln/Aachen (Autobahn 4 / E314):
- Cross the border at the border crossing Aachen (D)/ Bocholtz (Nl).
- Drive straight on and join the A76 (E314).
- After 1.3 km, at the Bocholtz junction, you drive in the direction of Kerkrade/Heerlen, onto the urban motorway N281.
- Continue to follow this road op to the exit Kerkrade-West/Landgraaf and leave the motorway at this exit.
- Turn right at the end of the exit and follow the directions above.
From Antwerp:
- Follow the A13 (E313) in the direction of Hasselt-Luik and join the A2 (E314) at the junction at Lummen in the direction of Aken/Genk.
- Cross the border at Maasmechelen(B)/Stein(NL) and, once you get to the Kerensheide junction, follow the A76 in the direction of Heerlen/Aken.
- Exit the motorway at the Ten Esschen junction and follow the urban motorway N281 in the direction of Voerendaal/Heerlen.
- Continue to follow this road op to the exit Kerkrade-West/Landgraaf and leave the motorway at this exit.
- Turn right at the end of the exit and follow the directions above.
